Video by Amy Rodger and Nina Kümin

A virtual exhibition of collaborative lockdown improvisation featuring artist Amy Rodger and baroque violinist Nina Kümin. Playing with covid-enforced conceptions of distance, time delay and communication and combining art with music, the physical and virtual, baroque (c.1600-1750) and present, four stimuli form the focus: emotion, time, the feminine and nature.

Description

On screen: “Zooming around”: Artistic travels through time. A virtual exhibition of improvisation by artist Amy Rodger and baroque violinist Nina Kümin. Recorded: Frisay 20th November 2020, 2nd COVID-19 lockdown.

On screen: “This virtual exhibition featuring joint improvisations recorded over video call is representative of a collaborative project between artist Amy Rodger and baroque violinist Nina Kümin.

As a response to the second COCID-19 lockdown in 2929, these improvisations seek to experiment with distance and time delay, find new ways to communicate artistically in a virtual environment and explore multimedia interactions in real time.

Using four stimuli: emotion, time, the feminine and nature, each improvisation combines art with music, the physical and the virtual, the baroque (c.1600-1750) and the present.

Drawing on connections between the disciplines, this demonstrates a creative way forward for artists to collaborate in a digital, distanced climate.
